Give Us Your Best Advice! How Can Youth Make a Difference?

We want to hear how youth make a difference directly from the experts: young Change Makers like you!

Can you think of a time when you were eager to make a difference? How did you turn your passion into action? Share your advice with other youth and young adults who want to make a difference and are figuring out where to start.

  • Did you develop a plan?
  • Did you develop a new way to get others involved in your cause?
  • Did you discover a way to stay focused, even when change was slow?

Your experience can motivate others to take action.

Submit your own original poster or photo(s) that share the advice you would offer friends, classmates, and teens around the nation who want to make a difference in the lives of others. Your artwork will be featured on Youth Engaged 4 Change (YE4C), a site for young people interested in personal, local, and national change efforts. YE4C is a site sponsored by the Interagency Working Group on Youth Programs.

Submissions should be creative and give your peers real ideas about how they can take action to make things better for those around them. The deadline was extended! Submissions are now being accepted until May 11, 2014, 11:59PM EST.

Prizes

The first, second, and third place winners will have their artwork posted on YE4C and will receive the following prizes:

  • First Place: $500
  • Second Place: $250
  • Third Place: $100

We will be awarding only one cash prize per winning entry. No separate awards will be made to individual team members.

Judging Information

A panel of Federal judges will review each entry and rate it based on the following criteria:

  • Are the ideas presented actionable? - Is it possible for someone to do what you suggest?
  • Are the suggestions concrete? - Is your advice specific enough to guide someone?
  • Is the message clear?
  • Is the submission creative?

The judges will narrow down the submissions to a few top entries. These selections will be posted on the YE4C Facebook page, and Facebook users will have the chance to vote for their favorites by “liking” them. The number of “likes” an entry receives will be considered along with the judges’ input to choose the first place, second place, and third place winners. The judges will be evaluating each submission as a whole, taking an entry’s rating and number of Facebook likes into consideration, along with a judgment of how the entry compares to other submissions received.
